Hello, my name is Richard Brooks and I live in San Antonio, Texas. I am a self taught artist and started my career in the early 1970's after serving in the United States Army. Upon returning from Viet Nam I exited the military and became a traveling artist. I traveled up and down the east coast doing the shopping mall art circuit. Born in Brooklyn New York I have since relocated to the Alamo city of San Antonio, Texas. I create in oil. acrylic, pen and ink on canvas, hardboard, and paper. My subjects are usually reptiles, amphibians, birds, insects. I try to capture a moment in a day of a life that many people do not get to see. All of our wildlife should be treated with respect. Not just the cute and cuddly. They were all put on this earth for a purpose. All of my art is emotionally important to me because I create with a heavy heart for the creatures whose forests are being destroyed. Where can these creatures go? Every view of life has something to say and that is what I try to capture in my artwork. The richness and excitement of nature inspires me. "You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one" (J. Lennon)...Peace.
